Traveling Tips: From Bangkok To Koh Phangan

In the last 5 years, Koh Phangan has been one of the hottest tourism destinations in Thailand. The wonderful parties with the incredible nightlife on the beaches are really nice experiences which tourists are seeking for. Below are certain tips for tourists when they want to come to this magnificent island, especially for travelling from Bangkok to Koh Phangan

I. How to get there from Bangkok?

How to travel to Koh Phangan from Bangkok is a question which many people concerns. If you have not prepared your schedule and plan, then this could be a challenge for you.  The reason is that Koh Phangan is located about 400 miles to the south of Bangkok and tourists need to have determination.

From Bangkok International Airport, you can catch a bus or a train to Surat Thani. After that, you will have to travel by boat from Surat Thani (for about 2 hours) or Koh Samui (for about 45 minutes) to get to Koh Phangan.

The most common and comfortable way (recommended by most of travelers) is to travel by motor bike or a Jeep car. You can rent these vehicles at Haad Rin beach or the ferry at Thong Sala. For those who prefer enjoying the landscape, there is another choice: pick-up trucks. These trucks have the function like a taxi which can serve the tourists by helping them going across the most common roads on the islands.

Last but not least is the time to travel. The rain season of Koh Phangan lasts from September to November. Therefore, the most convenient time in the year to visit the island is from December to June of the following year.

1. Activities on the island

Koh Phangan Island is a great place to sunbathe and swim. The most famous beach in Koh Phangan is Haad Rin, where the notorious Full Moon party takes place. This beach is divided into Haad Rin Nok and Haad Rin Nai. Other great beaches include Haad Kuat (Beach Chai), surrounded by mountains on the northern part of the island, and the wide sandy beaches of West Had Yao. Come to Koh Phangan, prepare yourself for a wild trip around the island.

While you are here, if your reason for visiting Thailand is to find a spiritual ideal, visit the monasteries and go to the Buddhist center at Kow Tahm. Here you can learn more about the art of meditation and balance in life.

2. Accomodation

Koh Phangan has plenty of hotels with different price ranges, which are appropriate for and type of tourist. You can find simple Bungalows around Haad Rin with cheap prices or the luxury resorts with good facility and service. Panviman is one of the most luxury hotels on the island. 

3. Food

Koh Phangan could be considered as a world of food. Most of the restaurants gather around Haad Rin. On the streets, there are also many people who sell food with very cheap prices. If you are a vegetarian, you can even find plenty of free offers in many local restaurants.
