Thailand Souvenir: Best Things You Can Get For Your Friends And Family

Do you want to bring home something “uniquely Thailand” to be reminded of special moments you have experienced here? There are a wide variety of Thai famed products that you can gift yourselves or your family and friends.

For your best convenience, I would share a list of my favorite Thailand souvenirs for you to consider.

1.   Thai Silk

One of the things Thailand is known for worldwide is Thai silk. Thai silk is known as being the best silk in the world as Thailand is home to a unique type of silkworm that farmers raise on a diet of mulberry leaves. It’s famous for its bright colors, beautiful designs, and gorgeous quality. The best place to buy Thai silk, of course, is in Thailand and Bangkok, the capital city, has some of the most wonderful Thai silk shops where you can find beautiful quality items at great prices.

However, avoiding synthetic Thai silk can be very difficult. Discounted malls and a plethora of markets with seemingly beautiful silk cover the city, making shopping for this timeless Thai souvenir that much more problematic. Don’t worry as we’ve made a quick guide just for you.

2.   Soaps and Spa Products

As with the local silk, Thai massages are so renowned that they are considered to be in a class of their own, separate from any other kind. As a result, spa treatments are extremely popular, as are massage classes.

Thailand has some of the best smelling soap and spa products around. From coconut lotions so smooth you will never want to stop applying, to fruit-shaped bar soap, you will want to stock up on these easy-to-pack souvenirs.

3.   Thai Wooden Carvings

This might seem like a strange, inconveniently heavy item to add to your list of things to purchase while traveling, but Bangkok has some of the most beautiful, wood-carved handicrafts you will ever see.

You can impress even the least impressible house guest with these gorgeous wood carvings. The best part is you do not even need an eye for design, you simply can’t go wrong with any of the decorations you will find.

4.   Thai Snack and Spices

Thailand is a food’s lovers heaven, but what happens when it is time to go home and leave all of the delicious snacks and spices behind? Never fear, because the curries you loved and the spices you devoured can all be taken home with you, if you look hard enough Sauces and Spices make great souvenirs and are available nearly everywhere, including airport duty-free shops. Be sure to follow all customs regulations and it’s best to purchase commercially packaged products.

Here are some of my personal favorites

  • Bento Squid

  • Durian Chips

  • Pad Thai Sauce

  • Green Curry Sauce

5.   T-shirts and singlets

“Been there, done that, got the t-shirt,” as the saying goes – and a lot of people have indeed got the t-shirt. Amongst the popular proofs of having visited Thailand are the glow-in-the-dark ‘Full Moon Party’ shirts, Chang Beer singlets, or the ‘Same Same But Different’ shirts.

There is a very wide range of designs available, with many of them being extremely popular right across the country. Look around long enough and you can find something a little different, too. The quality varies a lot, but the prices are universally low – generally not much more than 200 baht each.
