Along with Boracay of Philippines, Mui Ne is considered as the capital of KiteBoarding in SouthEast Asia.
Mui Ne is a coastal resort town in the Binh Thuan province of South Eastern Vietnam, the town has gained its popularity since thousands of travelers came there for the total solar eclipse on October 24, 1995.And in the past 10 years, Mui Ne has grown to become a paradise for KiteBoarder due to the consistent winds across its 3-miles long beach.
When to go
The best time to head to Mui Ne for kiteboarding is from October to the end of March, in these months the climate is dry with average temperatures of 27 degrees C, make it perfect for kiteboarding. In the other months, the winds are not as strong and the monsoon makes wind and waves inconsistent.
How to choose your Kiteboarding school wisely
Kiteboarding is an extreme sport and it’s very important to get professional instruction at a reputable school.
Beginners courses take eight to 12 hours. It can be physically and mentally fatiguing – there is a lot to learn, practice and absorb, but once you cover the fundamentals the learning curve skyrockets at the end. A good school would recommend you do it over two to three days.
The first part of your course will be on the beach: an introduction to equipment, oceanology, lots of theory, some exercises, practice kite control and self-rescue.
The next step is getting on the water with the instructor, practicing two hands, one hand and body dragging. The final achievement is being on the water independently, maneuvering with one hand.
One hour of instruction usually cost about 50-60USD.
