The tourists who are stopping in Hue to visit and discover the ancient land, often have the plan to explore Hoi An but do not know how far it is from Hue to Hoi An and how to move from Hue to Hoi An. From Hue to Hoi An city (Quang Nam) is about 126 km long, to the South. To get from Hue to Hoi An, there are many routes that you can choose from. However, the most popular route which is chosen by many tourists is:

- From the center of Hue City, start your journey in the direction of An Duong Vuong and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets to the National Highway 1A in Thuy Phu, Huong Thuy Commune.

- Going about 25.8 km of the National Highway 1A, you turn left into Phuoc Tuong Tunnel. Moving 3.9 km more, you turn right to continue to the National Highway 1A.

- You continue to run along the National Highway 1A, then turn left into Le Dai Hanh street. About 1.7 km to the roundabout, you take the 1st exit to Nguyen Huu Tho street. After 1.6 km on Nguyen Huu Tho street, you continue to go straight to Nguyen Tri Phuong/Vo Chi Cong overpass. From here, you keep going about 5.8 km on Vo Chi Cong road and then turn right to Tran Dai Nghia street. Continue to go a short distance more to reach Hoi An.

II. Transportation from Hue to Hoi An

The  bus from open tour is a popular choice when moving from Hue to Hoi An. You can take a bus to Hoi An by purchasing the tickets from reputable agencies such as HueBuses, VietFunTravelThe ticket price should be around 260,000VND - 320,000VNĐ (12$ - 15$). 

On the flip side, if you travel by bus you have to wait a bit longer because the bus only departs if it has enough passengers. The bus will go through Hai Van tunnel, so you do not have the opportunity to admire the natural beauty here which is called "one of the most majestic scenery in the world".

But don't worry, when reaching to Hoi An, you can book an one-day Hai Van Pass tour with local to come back to Hai Van pass and enjoy the stunning scenery here. 

2. Taxi from Hue to Hoi An

With the route from Hue to Hoi An, you can use the taxi service. However, if travel alone, the cost is not cheap. Normally, it will cost you $60 for 126km from Danang to Hue

3. Motorbike From Hue to Hoi An

Besides, to the Hue - Hoi An route, you can also travel by motorbike. Especially for those who love backpacking, moving by motorbike is a great idea. If you choose to go along Hai Van pass by motorbike, you can stop at Hai Van pass to admire the scenery of Lang Co and Hai Van Quan. This would be one of the most interesting experience when traveling to Vietnam.

We only recommend this way for tourists who have been living here long enough to know exactly where are they heading to and can "really" know how to ride motorbike. As Hai Van Pass is a dangerous route with many tough twists and sloping road, so be prepared in scenario that your bikes are broken and no-one to ask for help but yourselves.

If don't want to take risks you can also send your motorbikes at the tunnel management board near Hai Van Pass. Their trucks will take your motorbikes through the tunnel, and you will take a ride by transshipment truck and pick up your vehicles at the other side of  the tunnel. The price will be around 1 USD/motorbike.

4. Travel to Hoi An by Train

Currently, Hoi An doesn't have the train station. The tourists will stop at Da Nang station and from there to catch bus, hire the private car or taxi to Hoi An.

In order to buy your train tickets, we recommend to book online via official website of Vietnam Railway. The price will depend on types of seat and will vary from $ 15 to $ 30.

Although the train is going to take you 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the destination and you need to take the second trip from Danang station to Hoi An. In return, it is one of the cheapest means of transportation and you can freely enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Also, remember to bring your ID or Passport when you get in the train.
