Many tourists wonder about the schedule to travel all tourist destinations in Halong bay. In this article, we will give you some suggestions which you can choose as your own itinerary or adjust to fit your plan. There are some notes before moving onto the specific schedules:
- Places to see (Beautiful scenery on Halong Bay): Limestone Mountains; the famous islets: Ga Choi Islet, Dinh Huong Islet, Cho Da Islet; Popular caves: Sung Sot Cave, Thien Cung – Dau Go Cave and beautiful beaches: Titov beach, Tuan Chau beach in Tuan Chau Tourist Area.
- Specialties: Cha Muc (Squid sausage), Su Sung and Seafood of all kinds.
- Time: in a day or 2 days 1 night.
- Transportation: self-drive cars, passenger cars, and motorbikes.
Halong Bay cruise
Halong Bay itinerary in 1 day
With a one-day program, it is best to buy a tour for the convenience of moving. You will be very tired if you drive yourself or take the passenger car because the distance between Hanoi to Halong is very far (over 170km). However, if you still want to go by yourself, you can refer to the following schedule:
- 7h00: Depart from Hanoi, go to National Highway 5 and then transfer to Bac Ninh (National Highway 1), then to Highway 18 to Pha Trinh, Uong Bi and Halong. On the way, you can stop at the roadside breakpoints and have breakfast at Sao Do – Hai Duong.
- 11h30: Come to Bai Chay Tourist Port and buy tickets for the route 1 of 4-hour tour because of going within the day, you should come back after 4 hours to return to Hanoi early. You board the cruise ship to visit Halong Bay and have lunch on the cruise.
- 13h30: The boat lands on the island. You visit Thien Cung and Dau Go caves. These are two beautiful caves next to each other.
- 14h30: The boat continues the journey to take you to the fishing village of Ba Hang. On the way, you can see some islets such as Cho Da islet and Dinh Huong islet. Ba Hang fishing village consists of many families living on the sea by farming and catching seafood. In their free time, local people often offer some services for visitors such as boating to visit the cave or selling fruits. If you like, you can also explore the fishing village by rowing Kayak around the fishing village to visit three caves on the sea.
- 15h30: The cruise goes through Ga Choi Island around the caves, back to the harbor at 16h10. Finish Halong Bay tour.
- 16h20: Depart back to Hanoi. At 20h20, you return to Hanoi.
Note:
- With a one-day Halong Bay itinerary, if you are in a big group, you should rent a private cruise.
- If you travel alone or with some friends, you can buy your own scenic tickets and cruise tickets to visit the bay. In the low season, the tickets may be more expensive and the cruise will be late for waiting for enough guests.
- You should buy a tour if you do not have much time and go in a small group.
Ba Hang fishing village
Halong Bay itinerary in 2 days 1 night
With Halong 2-day-1-night tour, you can choose to stay overnight at hotel or overnight on the cruise ship. About the price, these two types of accommodation have the same price.
If you stay overnight at the hotel you can visit Halong Bay on a 4-hour journey as above (or 6-hour trip) as well as have fun at Tuan Chau Tourist Area and Halong night market.
If you stay overnight on the cruise ship, you can visit Halong Bay all day and night as well as relax on the Bay. This schedule is usually organized by the tour companies, so there may be different schedules. We will give one example.
Halong hotel
Itinerary for Halong 2-day-1-night tour (staying overnight at the hotel)
Day 1:
- 7h00: Depart from Hanoi, go to National Highway 5 and then transfer to Bac Ninh (National Highway 1), then to Highway 18 to Pha Trinh, Uong Bi and Halong. On the way, you can stop at the roadside breakpoints and have breakfast at Sao Do – Hai Duong.
- 11h30: Arrive in hotel, check-in, and rest before lunch. You can order meals at the hotel’s restaurant, or eat outside.
- 13h30: Explore Tuan Chau tourist area. You buy tickets and play inside in the afternoon. There are many activities such as games for kids and Dolphin shows. At 4 p.m, swim at Tuan Chau beach.
- 17h00: Come back to Bai Chay, have dinner and rest.
- 20h00: Walk along the beach or rent a bicycle to visit the surroundings, visit the night market and shop for souvenirs.
Day 2:
- 6:30: Have breakfast, then prepare the luggage and check out the hotel.
- 8h00: Go to the tourist harbor and take a boat to visit Halong Bay. You can choose the 4-hour or 6-hour trip. You can order meals on the boat or go to the restaurant on the shore (Halong city) for lunch. With a 6-hour schedule, the boat will take you to Sung Sot Cave first, and then you go back to Titov beach for swimming and hiking. On the way back to the port, you can visit Ga Choi Islet.
- 12h00: If you choose 4-hour trip, you will go back to Port, maybe on the way, have lunch on the boat, or go to the restaurant. With a schedule of 6 hours, at 13h30 you reach the port.
- 14h00: go back to Hanoi. End the program.
