1. Lorong One Malacca
Although it’s located a little ways away from Malacca’s city center, it should only take 5 minutes by taxi to get into town. If you’re coming to Malacca with a group of people, you might want to check out this excellently-designed, modern guesthouse.

2. The Opposite Place
The Opposite Place is located along the famous Jalan Kampung Hulu and is extremely convenient for tourists. The interior is extremely luxurious, but it has a price to match. They only have two rooms, divided into the Front Room and the Back Room. They’re priced differently.

3. The Stable Malacca
Also in the Jalan Kampung Hulu area, this hotel takes traditional architecture and utilizes it to create a vintage-style building. Cheaper than the above hotel.

Owned by the same person as The Stable, 45Lekiu has been featured in architecture, travel, and modern magazines. Clearly, it’s a very special hotel. In addition to a mixed old-new architectural style, every room also has its own small swimming pool.

5. The Sterling Boutique Hotel
The Sterling Boutique Hotel is a luxurious Chinese boutique hotel. The building was designed in the British colonial style, and their rooms’ private outdoor Jacuzzis caught my eye!

6. Majestic Malacca Hotel
This hotel’s entrance is fairly unique in its nostalgic design, and as it falls under the YTL Group’s ownership, the inside will certainly have luxurious elements!

7. Quayside Hotel
As the name implies, this hotel is right on Malacca’s riverbank. In addition to the great views of the river, Malacca’s major tourist destinations are but a short walk from the front door. The interior design is simple, but the lobby is truly special.

8. Hatten Hotel Melaka
The Hatten Hotel is located atop Malacca’s newest shopping center, and even though the shopping center is nothing special, the hotel has all you could need. If you’re accustomed to traditional city hotels, this is a good option. The hotel is surrounded by multiple shopping centers, if that interests you.

9. Rimba Mac Villa Melaka Retreat Guesthouse
A bit distant from Malacca’s city center, Rimba Mac Villa is located in a new half-independent Western house. It can hold up to 14 people, and if you have enough people, it’s only about 60 RM per person per night.

10. Layang Layang Guesthouse
This guesthouse is located in the Jalan Kampung Hulu tourist area and inhabits what used to be myriad old shops. It’s cheap, and the online reviews pretty good.

11. Jonker Boutique Hotel
Jonker Boutique Hotel is located in the Jalan Kampung Hulu area, and despite its name doesn’t have any special architecture to speak of. One plus is that every room has a bathtub, so after a long day sightseeing, you can have a good soak in the tub.

12. The Prive Malacca Residence
This is definitely our editor’s best discovery. You can’t tell from the photographs, but this is actually located in refurbished old Jalan Kampung Hulu shops. Since our editor had already experienced firsthand authentic Nyonya residences, finding this place was definitely an eye-opening experience. Although the exterior is retro and traditional, it just hides its luxurious and fashionable interior.

13. Mio Boutique Hotel
This is a minimalist hotel. They also offer singles, so if you come to Malacca alone to work or travel, this is the perfect place to stay!

14. Seputeh on Jabat Villa
This villa can be found in the Jalan Kampung Hulu area, near the bridge over the river, so it is optimally placed for sightseeing. They refurbished old stores to create this Balinese-style villa.

15. Philea Resort & Spa
If you don’t being a little far away from Malacca, then this resort numbers amongst Malacca’s finest. The city center is always packed with people and cars, so if you like that leisurely vacation feel, it wouldn’t hurt to check this resort out.

16. Swan Garden Hotel Melaka
Located in a new commercial district, this new and original hotel houses many different design styles. But the thing that attracted our editor the most was the penthouse bathroom. You can lie back and soak in the tub, taking in the scenic views through the floor-to-ceiling window.
